An exhibition of recent paintings by Rebecca Gmucs opens at AMZehnder Gallery, 25 Bank St. #3 in Wellfleet, on Thursday, July 15th and runs through August 3rd.

Gmucs paints languid days at the beach using bold colors and patterns that capture the joy of settling on the sand with a good book. They have a silkscreen look to them, with pared down shapes that coalesce into forms and figures.

“Color is like music or a dance with no limitations on variation,” Gmucs says in a statement. “I want the viewer to connect on an emotional level. I want my painting to speak.”
