Many farmers have a bounty of colorful vegetables right now. Other farmers’ offerings are quieter in appearance but no less seasonal. Sarah Naciri of Wild Blossoms Apothecary has teas, salves, and her packs-a-punch Elderberry and Shroom Syrup. They all feature locally foraged plants that she is harvesting and drying now for next year’s batch of herbal delights. The season for rose hips is just beginning, and these are an important ingredient in her syrup. Other wild offerings currently in season, such as mullein, yarrow, and St. John’s wort, are used in her tea blends and salves. Look for all these on the roadsides, in the woods, along the marsh, and at the farmers markets, too.
