Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Sept. 20 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Warbler migration is in full swing, with over 20 species reported around the Cape in the last week, including Connecticut Warblers and a Hooded Warbler, both at the Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary.
There was a Glossy Ibis in Eastham (or maybe two of them). Also 3 Black Caspian Terns were seen in Nauset Marsh.
Single Western Sandpipers were seen in Eastham and Wellfleet.
And what’s a Whimbrel to you? There were 50 of them in Wellfleet this week.
