Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Aug. 2 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Razorbill, a Pacific Loon, 5 Red-Necked Phalaropes, 11 Black Terns, 110 Roseate Terns, 2 Arctic Terns, 2 Parasitic Jaegers, 44 Wilson’s Storm-Petrels, 285 Cory’s Shearwaters, and 2,250 Great Shearwaters.
One Western Sandpiper was seen in North Truro.
In Wellfleet, someone saw a single Little Blue Heron.
