Jennifer Thomas, who lives in Truro, bought her quilted jacket on a trip out west — to Great Barrington. “I found it in a shop that features items made by craftspeople from across region and from the Hudson Valley,” she says. The jacket was made by Cheryl Pagano, who left the fashion industry in New York City to open her own workshop, Highlands Foundry, specializing in items made of handmade vintage textiles. Pagano takes the long view on the pieces she makes. Each one is to “wear, repair, cherish, and pass on to another.”
