Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Jan. 19 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Sooty Shearwater, a Thayer’s Iceland Gull, a Northern Fulmar, 2 Pacific Loons, an Atlantic Puffin, 21 Common Murres, 5 Thick-Billed Murres, a Black Guillemot, 12 Iceland Gulls, and a Lesser Black-Backed Gull.
Evening Grosbeaks are still in Wellfleet, including 37 at the Walker Family Conservation Land and Trails (maintained by the Wellfleet Conservation Trust) where 2 Rusty Blackbirds were also seen.
