Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, July 9 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Brown Booby was photographed off Race Point in Provincetown on the 6th.
Other birds at the Race included a Gull-Billed Tern, a Royal Tern, an Arctic Tern, a Black Tern, 15 Wilson’s Storm-Petrels, a Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron, 35 Cory’s Shearwaters, 40 Great Shearwaters, 20 Sooty Shearwaters, and 4 Manx Shearwaters.
There were 2 Whimbrels at Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary.
There was a Black Guillemot off Coast Guard Beach in Eastham, and the Chuck-Will’s-Widow continued at Nauset Light Beach, too.
