Wellfleet Preservation Hall’s Doc Days Film Series continues this week with The Changin’ Times of Ike White, a documentary directed by Daniel Vernon. It tells the story of Ike White, a musical prodigy, who was sentenced to life for murder at the age of only 19.
While in jail, he was discovered by producer Jerry Goldstein, and recorded the hit funk-soul album Changin’ Times from his cell. None other than Stevie Wonder lobbied successfully for his release from prison. But when he was released, rather than become a famous musician, he disappeared for 40 years.
The film will be available for online streaming beginning Friday, December 4th, at wellfleetpreservationhall.org. Tickets are $12 for a three-day viewing pass, through December 24th.
