Preschool Vouchers
Parents of town three-year-olds and four-year-olds, and children who will turn three by August 31 have until June 30 to apply for the town’s preschool voucher program.
Any child who lives in Wellfleet and “who has been accepted by or already attends a licensed preschool program qualifies for tuition assistance for the school year from September 2021 through June of 2022,” Director of Community Services Suzanne Grout Thomas wrote in a press release.
Grout Thomas said she anticipates that $100,000 in funding for three-year-olds and another $100,000 for four-year-olds will be approved at the June 5 town meeting; those sums will be divided by the number of qualifying children.
Parents can find this year’s application at wellfleet-ma.gov/home/news/preschool-vouchers. Required to qualify for the voucher are a completed and signed application, a copy of the child’s birth certificate, a utility bill in a parent’s or guardian’s name at a Wellfleet address, and a copy of the Wellfleet real estate tax bill in the parent’s or guardian’s name. Parents or guardians must be Wellfleet voters, on the Wellfleet street census, and provide a copy of their Wellfleet street address on their driver’s license.
