Turkeys Will Trot
The Provincetown Business Guild again won’t be hosting a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in town this year, according to organizer Amy Talhouk. She said the group was unable to line up an official timer for the event, and then it got to be too late to order T-shirts. So, they decided not to go forward. The Guild does plan to host the trot in 2022.
When Provincetown resident Alex Capecelatro learned there would be no official Turkey Trot, he decided to put together an alternative. Capecelatro is a member of the Facebook group Provincetown Runners, where people share information about local routes and organize group runs throughout the year.
“Provincetown Runners is asking anyone and everyone in town interested in burning some pre-Thanksgiving calories to meet at Pilgrims’ First Landing Park on the West End at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. run/walk Thanksgiving morning,” Capecelatro wrote on Facebook. You’ll be home in time to cook: the event will end by 10:30 a.m.
Capecelatro is planning two routes: a two-mile jog or walk to Herring Cove and back and a five-mile option to Herring Cove, then on to the Pilgrim Monument and back. The trot is not a race. It’s about having fun. Adults, kids, and dogs are welcome. Walkers are welcome. More details can be found on the Provincetown Runners Facebook page. —Ryan Fitzgerald
