Covid-19 Update
As of Jan. 4, Truro had two active cases of Covid-19, according to the town website. Truro has had a total of 18 cases and zero deaths to date, according to the state’s Dept. of Public Health website.
Town Manager Trouble?
The new town manager, Darrin Tangeman, started on Monday, Jan. 4, but there is already an executive session (that is, a closed-door meeting) set up with the select board for Thursday, Jan. 7, at 2:30 p.m. to discuss his contract.
Officials would not speak on the record about the reason for the meeting, so just what is going on is anyone’s guess.
Under the terms of Tangeman’s three-year contract, he can be terminated or resign voluntarily at any time. Either way, he is entitled to a lump sum cash payment equal to six months aggregate salary, according to the contact.
Along with his annual salary of $172,000, the select board gave Tangeman $22,500 to cover moving expenses, rent for temporary housing, and other costs of finding a new home within commuting distance of Truro.
According to Realtor.com, the median list price of a home in his former town of Woodland Park, Colo., about 20 miles from Colorado Springs, was $400,000. The median sale price of a home in Truro in November was $1.2 million; the median price for the same month in Eastham was $625,000, according to the Cape & Islands Association of Realtors.
Tangeman did not return a call seeking comment.
