“Tilting the Axis” is a show of new paintings by Mary Giammarino at Four Eleven Gallery, 411 Commercial St. in Provincetown, running Friday, July 30 through Aug. 12. Giammarino paints the Cape Cod landscape in an expressionistic manner — the culmination of hours of immersion summed up in a slash and burn of loose paint and celebration of surface color. “What’s before me is the same as what was,” she says in a press release. “I am drawn to the way it looked yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The world breaks open when you find the infinity in sameness.” The gallery is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be an opening reception on Friday, July 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.
