Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, April 26 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Two White Ibis have been in Nauset Marsh in Eastham this week. A Hooded Warbler was in the Red Maple Swamp. 2 Little Blue Herons were also seen in town.
2 Northern Shovelers were reported in Wellfleet.
In Provincetown, sightings at Race Point included up to 4 Pacific Loons, 3 Common Murres, 38 Razorbills, 180 Red-Throated Loons, a Merlin, and a Bald Eagle.
The folks at the Audubon sent over news of whale sightings for this week, too, from Race Point: rare Sei Whales, plus North Atlantic Right Whales, Humpbacks, and Minkes.
