“Dining Out at Home,” a show of gouache paintings and mixed media objects by Richard Baker, opens Friday, Aug. 6 at Albert Merola Gallery and runs through Sept. 1.
The works affectionately render the material accessories of dining at home: cookbook covers, take-out bags, chopsticks, handi-wipes, restaurant guest checks. The show nods to pop culture, to American food history, and, at a simpler level, to the pleasure found in the visual and tactile qualities of everyday objects. The gallery, located at 424 Commercial St. in Provincetown, is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
