Conversation Starters
Rainbow Crosswalks
The select board unanimously approved a revised proposal from the Provincetown Business Guild (PBG) to paint rainbow crosswalks. The new proposal will add rainbow colors inside the existing ladder-style crosswalk in the center of Lopes Square, leading from the Coffee Pot across the square to the Chamber of Commerce. The existing Portuguese rooster already painted in the crosswalk will remain.
PBG representative Rick Murray thanked Town Manager Robin Craver for her work in bringing the various parties together to collaborate on a revised plan that addressed concerns of the Provincetown Portuguese Festival, the Provincetown Police Dept., and the Provincetown Dept. of Public Works. The crosswalks will be painted this spring by a town-approved contractor, with the work paid for by the PBG.
Barracks Housing
The zoning board of appeals will review Patrick Patrick’s proposal for workforce housing, called “The Barracks at Route 6,” at 207 Route 6 during their meeting on March 5. The project includes a 112-bed dormitory, 16 apartments, common areas, 20 car parking spaces, and 112 bike parking spaces. —Rik Ahlberg
