The Higgins Art Gallery at Cape Cod Community College has been closed to visitors during the pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped director Nathalie Ferrier from setting up an ambitious program of virtual exhibits and events.
It also hasn’t stopped Truro artist Sían Robertson, who works at the Independent office when she isn’t creating three-dimensional map cut-outs and other inventive projects. Robertson is the artist in residence at Higgins this fall, and, to cap it off, she’s creating an installation, “One World,” featuring an “oversize” map that’s 8 by 11 feet.
Robertson says she is “interested in how, in life, roads connect us and borders divide us, but, on a map, both roads and borders are represented by lines, and, at first glance, it may not be clear which is which.”
When the installation is complete, Robertson will give a virtual artist’s talk via Zoom on Thursday, November 12th, at 3 p.m. Register in advance at capecod.edu/higgins/. —Howard Karren
