EASTHAM — The no. 14 ranked Nauset Regional High School boys lacrosse team was knocked out of the MIAA Div. 2 State Tournament by a 13-6 defeat at the hands of no. 3 seed Billerica in the Round of 16 on June 10.
The Warriors had eased past Burlington in the Round of 32, led by Andrew Berardi, Cooper McIntire, and Payton Kender to set up a match up with the Indians.
But the high-powered Nauset attack was stifled by a 16-save performance from Indians goalkeeper Scott Einarson.
Billerica scored seven unanswered goals to build a six-goal lead before Nauset struck twice — ending a goalless drought of over 18 minutes — to get within 9-5 at the end of three quarters of play.
But the Warriors managed to add just one goal in the fourth quarter while Billerica tallied four to push the match out of reach.
