John Thomas Tully of Provincetown died peacefully on Jan. 13, 2023 at 76. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Deborah Kleber.
The son of the late Stuart and Irene (Loranger) Tully, Tom was born on March 13, 1946 in Providence, R.I. After attending Tantasqua High School in Sturbridge, Tom enlisted in the Navy in 1963. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Tom was also stationed in California and Hawaii. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
After his discharge, Tom apprenticed as a carpenter with his brother-in-law Alfred Lamoureux. Tom was grateful to Al for showing him everything he knew about carpentry.
Tom moved to Provincetown in the 1980s and lived here for the rest of his life. He enjoyed growing Big Boy tomatoes, creating stained glass, and visiting with his beloved friends Raymond, Jen, Teddy, Hal, and Rocco.
Tom leaves his daughter, Deborah Kleber, her husband, Russell, and two grandchildren; his brothers Richard J. Tully and wife Margaret and Michael F. Tully and wife Gloria; and a sister, Kathleen Notis, and her husband, John.
Tom was predeceased by a brother, Stuart L. Tully, and two sisters, Barbara Lamoureux and Beatrice Tully.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Charlton on Feb. 4. Burial took place at Westridge Cemetery in Charlton on Feb. 10.
A celebration of life and potluck gathering in Provincetown is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at the Old Colony Tap, 323 Commercial St.
