Jim Bakker — best known as a powerful advocate for Provincetown art, especially historic women painters, through his shows and auctions — is also an artist himself. He will be showing a selection of cyanotype prints at Bakker Gallery, 359 Commercial St., from Friday, June 18th through July 5th.
“It’s always been an interesting pastime,” says Bakker of his cyanotypes. “Most of it is botanical — things from the garden. I see in a painterly way with a lot of influences from different artists.” In addition to plants and flowers, Bakker captures Provincetown street scenes, even the silhouette of a martini, in that indelible, bottomless blue.
