Jill C. Geier of Atlantic Beach, N.Y., a longtime Provincetown resident, died of natural causes on April 3, 2021 at South Dennis Healthcare Senior Living. She was 81.
Jill was born on Jan. 10, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of George and Gertrude Geier. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Miami.
She moved to Provincetown in 1979 and lived on Commercial Street in the East End for 25 years before moving into the residences at Seashore Point. Local residents may remember Jill as a friend and dog groomer. She ran her home-service dog care business, Heads to Tails Dog Grooming, for more than 20 years.
She also assisted her good friend Mary Oliver with research for her publications. Jill enjoyed collecting the work of local artists, and was known for her strong opinions and for being a regular at Far Land Provisions, according to her niece Remy.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Anita and her nieces, Alexandria and Remy, who live on Long Island, N.Y. The family considers Provincetown a special place after visiting Jill there for so many years.
She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Geier, in April 2018.
Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at 24 Cemetery Road in Provincetown. Following the burial, the family will gather in memory of Jill. All are welcome.
