A one-man performance of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol is available for streaming through Sunday, January 3rd via capeplayhouse.com. Tickets are $50 per household, with a portion benefitting the Cape Playhouse.
The production, directed by Michael Arden, stars Tony award−winning actor Jefferson Mays playing 50 roles. Fully staged, with elaborate makeup and costumes, it aims to be an experience “unlike any other — past, present, or future.”
In a promotional trailer, Mays says the production is “not exactly a play, and not exactly a film, but lives in this strange world between the two.” He had the idea to do the production “late in the last century,” because “Dickens himself did it as a one-person show.”
