The new film Monsoon, written and directed by Cambodian-born Chinese-British filmmaker Hong Khaou, stars Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding.
Golding plays Kit, a Vietnamese-British young man who returns to Ho Chi Minh City 30 years after his family fled Vietnam as “boat people,” with his parents’ ashes. There he falls for an American (Parker Sawyers), whose father fought in the Vietnam War.
The film can be streamed via Waters Edge Cinema in Provincetown, at provincetownfilm.org, for a $12 rental. Several other films are available as well, from Smooth Talk (1985), with a young Laura Dern and Treat Williams, to the new Frederick Wiseman documentary City Hall.
This event is ongoing.
