Crosswalk watch
A third crosswalk is coming to Route 6 in Eastham. Michael Pisano of the National Seashore said installation of a pedestrian crossing beacon and crosswalk at the intersection of Governor Prence Road and Route 6 is scheduled to be complete at the end of March or early April.
Eastham currently has only two crosswalks on Route 6, one at town hall and another at the Lobster Shanty and Cape Cod National Seashore Visitors Center.
The crosswalk and beacon are intended to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists as they cross to Fort Hill Road, a popular biking and walking destination especially in the summer.
Eastham Town Planner Paul Lagg said the town will be reaching out to property and business owners along the Route 6 corridor to schedule discussions and seek input in the coming weeks.
Harbor plan approved
Eastham’s first harbor and waterways plan has been officially adopted by the select board. The board voted unanimously to approve the plan. The board also unanimously voted to adopt a harbor implementation committee that will work on projects in the plan.
Appointments
Kathryn Sette was appointed to the historical commission.
DPW Director Silvio Genao will represent Eastham on the Cape Cod Commission Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Committee, Cape Cod Joint Transportation Committee, and Barnstable County Coastal Management Committee. —Ryan Fitzgerald
