Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, June 14 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Two Sandhill Cranes flew by a boat a mile off Herring Cove in Provincetown on Monday. Other Provincetown sightings included a Leach’s Storm Petrel, a Black Tern, and a Glaucous Gull at Race Point.
Two Gull-Billed Terns were photographed at Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay sanctuary on June 7, and two, perhaps the same pair, were seen at Nauset Beach in Orleans on June 11.
