Conversation Starters
June Town Meeting
The annual town meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at the Nauset Regional High School football field, with a rain date of June 13.
“Basically, this is being driven by the weather and the availability of our electronic voting vendor,” Town Administrator Jacqui Beebe explained at Monday’s select board meeting.
In answer to an inquiry from board member Aimee Eckman, Beebe said no petitioned articles had been received for the town meeting. The warrant was closed on Feb. 12.
Zoning Task Force Named
The select board voted Monday to appoint the following members of the newly formed zoning task force: Stephen Wasby, Ed Schneiderhan, Carolyn McPherson, Jim Kivlehan, Mary Nee, Jeff Cusack, and Keven Gatlin.
The task force is charged with examining residential zoning and regulation issues including, but not limited to, nonresident divided ownership of properties; limits or other regulatory changes on house use for commercial purposes, including large parties and weddings; protection of historic homes and scenic landscapes; limits on consolidation of lots to facilitate larger homes; extension of the 50 percent maximum size increase rule to zoning districts other than the Seashore District; development of “tiny homes” and applicable zoning; and review of historic overlay districts.
The task force goal is to report its recommendations to the select board for consideration to be placed on the May 2022 town meeting warrant.
