Covid-19 Update
As of Dec. 10, Eastham had 8 new active cases within the previous 14 days, 31 cases considered recovered, and no deaths. Due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, Eastham Town Hall will be closed to the public beginning Friday, Dec. 18.
Dog Licensing Deadline Changed
The select board voted to change the dog license renewal deadline from April 15 to March 15.
Currently, the town clerk’s office includes license applications with the town census, which goes out the first week of January. In March, a second reminder letter is mailed out, and in May, phone calls are made to all dog owners who have not responded.
“At this time, we ask the animal control officer to make phone calls and/or knock on their door,” wrote Town Clerk Cindy Nicholson in a letter to the board. “At this point, we see immediate results. One concern in particular is having unvaccinated dogs in our community.”
The March 15 deadline was recommended by the town’s new animal control officer, Desmond Keogh, wrote Nicholson.
“This would allow him to contact the offenders before the summer season begins,” Nicholson’s letter continued. “This would also eliminate the need for a reminder letter and phone calls from the town clerk’s office.”
Renewal payments can now be made through the online payment link on the town’s website.
