Clarice (Malaquias) Dutra of North Truro and Pittsfield died on March 24, 2023 in Pittsfield. She was 95.
The daughter of the late Domingo and Louise (Enos) Malaquias, Clarice was born in Provincetown on Oct. 9, 1927 and graduated from Provincetown High School in 1945. She married Robert Dutra in 1948, and the couple lived in North Truro for the 69 years of their married life, during which Clarice was a mother and homemaker.
After they sold Bob’s family business, Dutra’s Market in North Truro, in 1985, they enjoyed 27 winters in Winter Haven, Fla. Bob died in 2017.
In earlier years, Clarice was an avid member of candlepin bowling leagues in Provincetown along with her sisters. She loved to walk, read, knit, do crossword puzzles, and travel. She especially loved living on Cape Cod, where she could be near the ocean.
The family thanks Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place in Pittsfield for outstanding care and support since August 2021.
She leaves a son, David Dutra of Pittsfield, and a daughter, Sherry Dutra, and partner David Ayotte of Hudson, N.H. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bernice Packett of Winter Haven, Fla., along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Kay and Elmer Silva, Louise and Herman DeSilva, and Pat and Fred Shaw; by her brothers and their wives, Dom and Jean Malaquias, and Paul and Pat Malaquias; and by her brother-in-law, Manuel Packett.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
At Clarice’s request, there will be no visiting hours.
