Graphic designer turned fine artist Caroline Bowden is showing mixed media works at AMZehnder Gallery, 25 Bank St. #3 in Wellfleet, from Thursday, Aug. 26 through Sept. 3. Bowden’s design background informs her images of young girls collaged against colorful found materials. Her love of pattern and printed ephemera gives her work a strong graphic sensibility, exploring themes of innocence, loss, rebirth, renewal. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In the Studio Gallery, there’s still time to catch Cammie Watson’s birds-eye-view paintings of the Outer Cape shoreline — beaches, roads, parking lots, and safe harbors — that put a fresh spin on natural topography and intruding human development. There’s a double take of abstraction as you orient yourself to what’s happening beneath, or rather, in front of you. The show runs through Aug. 31.
