Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Dec. 10 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Spotted Towhee continued at the Provincetown Airport this week, and the Western Tanager reappeared along Race Point Road. Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, a Laughing Gull, a hybrid American Herring x Lesser Black-Backed Gull, 10 Iceland Gulls, and a Purple Sandpiper. Elsewhere in town, the mystery hummingbird continued, and someone saw a Red Crossbill.
A Bohemian Waxwing and 3 Evening Grosbeaks were seen in Truro, and in North Truro, a White-Winged Crossbill.
There was an Audubon’s Yellow-Rumped Warbler in Eastham.
