“Anthropocene” is a show of oil paintings by Edie Vonnegut opening Friday, June 18th and running through June 30th at Kobalt Gallery, 366 Commercial St. in Provincetown. The show’s title refers to the current geological age in which humans negatively reign over the climate. Casting her female protagonists as Renaissance heroines in doomsday scenarios, Vonnegut threads an undercurrent of dark humor to her socially and environmentally conscious narratives. “This is me trying to draw attention to what matters,” Vonnegut says in the press release. “Our planet is in trouble.”
