‘We Can’t Get Complacent’
To the editor:
From your editorial choice to use the term “anti-abortion center” in the headline through the well-researched and thorough coverage of the many issues that anti-abortion centers raise, thank you for your coverage of the most recent effort to undermine access to comprehensive reproductive health care [“Mobile Anti-Abortion Center Is Coming to the Cape,” Aug. 3, front page].
The tactics used by anti-abortion centers include manipulation and straight-up lying. Under the cover of offering “options,” they regularly lie about how far along in a pregnancy a person is and propagate lies about health risks of abortion and the fallacy of “abortion pill reversal.” Their claims to support pregnant people are belied by the reality of their so-called services.
In Massachusetts, we are lucky to have strong legal protections for providers as well as a solid foundation for access to abortion. But we can’t get complacent. Anti-abortion centers are the next line in this battle that those of us of a certain age have been fighting for our lifetimes.
Thank you for helping to make us all better informed.
