The High School Vote
To the editor:
Thanks to K.C. Myers for her very informative article “Nauset High Renovation Vote is Jan. 10” [Dec. 29, page A10]. As a 76-year-old living on a fixed income, I will be voting in favor of our towns’ providing the increased funding necessary for Nauset Regional High School.
Visitors come to the Cape for its natural beauty. Young families come to the Cape for its natural beauty and for the excellence of the educational programs in our public schools. That excellence cannot be sustained when the physical plant is in disrepair.
We are lucky to have received a $36-million Mass. School Building Authority grant to renovate and repair our high school. We have already voted to fund the project. But a variety of economic factors have combined to make the work more expensive. If we do not vote for the additional money, we will lose the grant, and we will still be faced with a school that needs repairs. If you are elderly and the added cost will be burdensome for you, each of our towns has a program of tax abatement for seniors.
Because I value the education of the children of the Lower Cape, I support this necessary tax increase. I hope that you will join me in voting, either by mail-in ballot or in person, on Jan. 10 to ensure the excellence of Nauset High School.

Sadly Appreciated
To the editor:
I enjoyed your Dec. 29 Letter From the Editor about the George Santos affair [“Venture Journalism”] in a sad way. It is good that you point out what the mainstream media do not cover.
It also proves how much influence the mostly biased large media outlets have over our society.
I thoroughly appreciate your publication. It is the best one I have had experience with.
