Perry Ann (Avila) Seder of Sandwich died on July 5, 2022, after a short illness. She was 79.
The daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina (Duarte) Avila, Perry was born in Boston on Sept. 22, 1942, and she grew up in North Truro.
Perry was a lifelong Cape Cod resident and spent her early years on the Outer Cape. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School, where she sang in the Glee Club and helped stage the play Our Gal Sal for her senior class in 1961. Her contribution in costume design for the play was recognized in the “Class Prophecy” section of her high school yearbook.
After graduation and marriage, she moved to Falmouth, where she raised her family, for which she felt especially blessed. Her husband, her son and daughter, and her grandchildren were central to her life.
She shared her love of music with them all, passing on her passion for the guitar. She also shared her knowledge of cooking with her children and grandchildren.
For more than 15 years, she worked as the business administrator for JBS Enterprises, a condominium management company based in Osterville.
In her spare time, she worked as a volunteer with people facing developmental challenges. She also nurtured her interest in theater by volunteering at the Falmouth Playhouse.
Perry was kind, loving, and had an infectious laugh. She is dearly missed by her loved ones.
Perry is survived by her husband, Jonathan H. Seder of Sandwich, formerly of Worcester; her son, Thomas C. Duce, of Cataumet; her daughter, Pippy D. Ostrow and husband Thomas of Barrett Township, Pa.; her grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Jake, and Jared; and her great-grandchildren, Colin, Britton, and Addison O’Reilly.
A funeral service was held on July 11, 2022, at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home in Hyannis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Foundation. An online guestbook can be found at doanebealameshyannis.com.
