Dana Ashton Noble of Provincetown died on Jan. 16, 2022 at Seashore Pointe Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. He was 88.
Born in Prentiss, Maine on April 6, 1933, Dana was the son of the late Hazen and Leta (Judkins) Noble. He grew up in Augusta, Maine, and he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his Army service, he graduated from the New England School of Art and Design and from the Museum School of Boston. Dana became a prominent interior designer in Boston with an office at 11 Newbury St. His clients lived along the Eastern seaboard and in Mexico, Bermuda, Switzerland, and Qatar. His most distinguished commissions were to perform design work on the Queen Elizabeth II and on the U.S. presidential yacht.
Dana moved to Provincetown and was a partner in Noble-Lawton Interior Designers, founded in 1959. He was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, served its New England chapter as president, and was a member of three boards of governors.
Dana was also a member of the Provincetown Historical Society and served on several Provincetown town committees. He was a past president of the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House.
Dana’s life partner of 43 years, John “Jack” Lawton, predeceased him in 2002.
He is survived by a nephew, Charlie Noble, of Borrego Springs, Calif. and by many friends.
At Dana’s request, following cremation, services will be private. A celebration of his life will be held on a date to be announced.
