Phyllis Mary Patrick, a longtime Provincetown resident, died peacefully on May 17, 2021 at the Regal Care Nursing Home in Harwich. She was 80.
Born on July 3, 1940 and educated in Provincetown, Phyllis was the loving daughter of the late Cyril and Philomena (Justin) Patrick, the sister of the late Joseph P. Patrick, and the niece of Catherine Cabose, all of Provincetown.
Those who knew her when she was young recall a friendly, gentle girl who had a smile for everyone. She took special pleasure in assisting her family in their many business ventures, especially at the Griffon and Patrician Shop in Provincetown. Both in the shop and on the park bench in front of town hall, Phyllis enjoyed chatting with everyone. She was a friendly presence on Commercial Street, and she was regularly involved with church activities at St. Peter’s Church.
Later in life she relocated to Sandwich, where she would greet her neighbors with a smile as she walked to fetch her morning coffee in the village.
She followed the Red Sox throughout her life and was particularly pleased by their recent success in her last days.
In addition to a brother, Cyril Patrick Jr., she leaves two nieces, Megan Patrick, who remembers her as particularly “sweet and kind,” and Kelly Patrick.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 18 at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown. It was live-streamed on stpeters-ptown.org. Burial was at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
