Constance de Smet of Brewster, who was known as Dakota, died at Cape Cod Hospital on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 2020, having just passed her 86th birthday.
Dakota was a bon vivant and a larger-than-life presence for those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She grew up in Philadelphia and was an avid traveler in her younger days. She lived in New York City for many years, where she was the proprietor of a vintage store in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. She also lived in Truro for many years.
Her passion was theater and the arts. She was a member of a local arts collaborative, and exhibited work at the Cultural Center in Yarmouth and elsewhere on the Cape.
She leaves her beloved and loving dachshund, Ally.
