Beverly A. Brazil of North Truro died peacefully on Nov. 25, 2020 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness. She was 82 and was the partner of Edgar “Butch” Francis for 26 years.
Born on Aug. 8, 1938 in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Emily Chaves. She graduated from Taunton High School and started her career at Reed and Barton Silversmiths.
Bev and her family summered at the North Truro Campground until moving permanently to North Truro in 1975. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years, mostly at the Provincetown Post Office, where she was well known. She retired in 1998.
Throughout her life, Bev enjoyed long days at Cold Storage Beach with her children and Truro friends. On Sundays, you could always find her and Butch parked in their motor home at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. She loved spending time with her family.
Butch and Bev traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the world. They annually drove cross-country to their winter residence in Palm Desert, Calif. There, they made lifelong friendships and strong community ties in the Marrakesh Country Club. Never one to miss a parade, Bev loved the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses, which she attended several times with Butch and friends in their motor home.
She was an active member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club of Cape Cod.
In addition to her life partner, Butch Francis, Bev is survived by her son Scott Brazil and wife Trudi, of Truro, and their children, Matthew, Hannah, Paul, and Emily; her son Keith Brazil and wife Cindy, of Wellfleet, and their son, Steven; her daughter, Susan Travers, of North Truro, and her daughters, Julie and Leslie Travers; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her longtime caregivers and the members of the Truro Rescue Squad and Lower Cape Ambulance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the Dexter Keezer Community Fund, c/o Truro Central School, P.O. Box 2029, Truro 02666, or to a charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of Bev’s life when it is safe to get together again, at a date and time to be announced.
