Dorothy M. (Mannato) Fitzsimmons, 89, of Fairhaven died on Oct. 13, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, following a long illness.
Born in Boston, Dorothy was raised in Provincetown on Commercial Street and graduated from Provincetown High School. She attended St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in Boston and then moved to the Fairhaven area, where she spent most of her life.
As a registered nurse, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and at several nursing homes in the New Bedford area during her career.
She is survived by her four children, Nancy Fitzsimmons Hebert and husband James, Edward Fitzsimmons Jr., James Fitzsimmons, and Ann Fillippi and husband Victor. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
