Serge Jean Luc Le Gendre of Provincetown died on Feb. 27, 2020. He was 55.
Born in New York City, Serge lived most of his life in New York, but traveled extensively throughout Europe and also lived for a time on the West Coast. Having summered on Cape Cod with his family since he was born, he found it hard to stay away from a place that always gave him shelter and peace. He had recently returned to live in Provincetown.
He had a passion for sports, played basketball in college in New Hampshire, and had a short stint as an assistant basketball coach while living in Provincetown. He was an avid reader and photographer, taking a series of photos of Cape Cod life.
From a young age Serge was clearly not a landlubber. He was most at home on the water with a tiller in hand, sailing into the wind or motoring toward the cove or the lighthouse in Provincetown.
Serge is survived by twin sons, Milo and Isiah; by a sister, Monique, and her partner, Evelina; a brother, Darren, and wife Shawn, all of New York; a sister, Dina, husband Ben-Zion, and their children, in Israel; a brother, Ray, in Germany; many nieces and nephews; and a close family of friends in Provincetown, New York, and other parts of the country. He was predeceased by his mother, Hannelore, his father, Henri, and a sister, Barbara.
A celebration of Serge’s life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
