PROVINCETOWN — John Michael Petti died at his home here as a result of cardiac arrest on Dec. 13, 2019. He was 61, and had suffered from AIDS as well as injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
John was born in Brockton, the son of John A. and Mary Frances Petti. He came to the Cape with his family and attended Dennis-Yarmouth High School, but quit in his senior year. He moved to Provincetown and then California, but eventually returned to the Outer Cape, his chosen home.
“He was a funny, wonderful man,” said his sister, Gail Mogan of East Sandwich. “He did work in building, but he was very talented in the arts and made beautiful stained glass. His family and friends loved him.” John especially loved his two dogs, Dylan and Stoli, who predeceased him, as well as his parrot, Andy, who was his companion for about 35 years.
Besides his sister, John’s survivors include nephews and nieces Daniel Mogan, Patrice Mogan, Shea Pablis Mogan, Alexandra Danielle Mogan, and Nicholas Mogan.
Services will be private. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod.
