Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, April 1 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
The long-staying Spotted Towhee continued at the Provincetown airport, while birds at Race Point included a Pacific Loon, 3 Manx Shearwaters, 50 Razorbills, 2 Common Murres, 200 Northern Gannets, a Glaucous Gull, and 40 Iceland Gulls.

A Black-Necked Stilt has been seen in various wetlands on the West End of Provincetown this week, including at Bayberry Hollow farm. A Northern Shrike was also seen there. Elsewhere in town there were reports of 3 Black Vultures and an early Barn Swallow.
A Barrow’s Goldeneye was seen in Wellfleet Harbor.
There was an American Pipit in Eastham.
Nobody in Truro dropped a dime for the Audubon hotline this week.
