Highlights from bird sightings on the Outer Cape over a little less than the usual one-week period. The Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary tally for us ended a day early because of the Independent’s Thanksgiving issue deadline on Monday, Nov. 25.
A late Sooty Shearwater and a Pacific Loon were at Race Point in Provincetown this week. A Spotted Towhee, Western Tanager, Pine Grosbeak, and up to three Evening Grosbeaks all continued at various points along Race Point Road. There was a Bohemian Waxwing reported from the Beech Forest on Nov. 21. And elsewhere in town, a late Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher was spotted.
An Atlantic Puffin passed First Encounter Beach in Eastham on Nov. 23, and somebody saw it.
