Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Oct. 1 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Birds at Race Point in Provincetown this week included a Baird’s Sandpiper and a Pacific Loon, plus 23 Red-Necked Phalaropes, an American Golden-Plover, 16 Parasitic Jaegers, a Northern Fulmar, 65 Cory’s Shearwaters, 16 Great Shearwaters, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, 14 Manx Shearwaters, and 2,300 Tree Swallows.
A Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher and a Connecticut Warbler were seen in Wellfleet.
A Brown Pelican was seen again this week on the bay off South Wellfleet and North Eastham.
