Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Feb. 6 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, a Sooty Shearwater, 25 Razorbills, 3 Common Murres, 6 Iceland Gulls, and 3 Tree Swallows. Meanwhile, at Provincetown Harbor there were 4 Harlequin Ducks, a Thick-Billed Murre, a Common Murre, and a Black Guillemot.
Two Orange-Crowned Warblers were seen in North Truro.
There was a Glaucous Gull in Wellfleet. Also, a Yellow-Breasted Chat.
The Western Kingbird and Lark Sparrow continued at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham this week along with an Eastern Phoebe. Three Long-Billed Dowitchers were seen at Fort Hill in Eastham, and there was a Clay-Colored Sparrow elsewhere in town.
