Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, May 30 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Pileated Woodpecker was reported from the Beech Forest in Provincetown on Friday. A Mississippi Kite was seen over the dunes, and a Pine Siskin was seen elsewhere in town.
Birds at Race Point in Provincetown included a Common Murre, a Caspian Tern, 2 Black-Legged Kittiwakes, a Lesser Black-Backed Gull, 2 Iceland Gulls, 11 Piping Plovers, and 2 Manx Shearwaters.
Two Mississippi Kites and a Least Bittern were seen from North Truro.
