Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, April 25 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Birds at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, 3 Common Murres, a Thick-Billed Murre, 18 Razorbills, 11 Iceland Gulls, 3 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, and 280 Northern Gannets. Orchard Orioles were reported elsewhere in town.
A Yellow-Throated Warbler was seen at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary on Tuesday. And Orange-Crowned Warblers — we don’t know how many — plus 15 Red Crossbills were reported in South Wellfleet.
A Tricolored Heron and a Green Heron were both seen at Fort Hill in Eastham.
Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds continue to trickle in, with sightings in various places.
