Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Sept. 13 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Little Gull has been at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham this week, and an evening heron watch at Nauset Marsh on Aug. 10 produced 61 Black-Crowned Night-Herons, 12 Yellow-Crowned
Night-Herons, and 2 Glossy Ibises.
A Yellow-Throated Vireo, a Veery (banded in Wellfleet), a Clapper Rail, and 21 Whimbrels were seen at Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary.
A Red-Headed Woodpecker was photographed in North Truro.
No Provincetown birds were in this week’s report.
