Conversation Starters
Clark Signs On
Kelly Clark has signed a three-year contract detailing the town manager job. Clark was previously the assistant town manager and acting town manager.
Clark, who lives in Orleans, will be paid $210,305 per year, with an opportunity for a merit raise of no less than $8,000 in fiscal 2026. The town will contribute the equivalent of 5 percent of her salary to a deferred compensation plan. The agreement also calls for a $4,000 annual vehicle allowance. The contract is available on the town website.
Wildfire Preparedness
A group of local, regional, and state officials, fire chiefs, and Cape Cod National Seashore representatives will meet at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Truro Meeting House to discuss wildfire preparedness.
According to the 2012 Barnstable County Wildfire Preparedness Plan, the most recent one available, 43.2 percent of the county’s land area is at either “high” or “extreme” risk of wildfire. In Truro, more than two-thirds of the land area is at “high” or “extreme” risk.
The officials hope that the roundtable will lead to the creation of a disaster preparedness plan, according to the event description. —Lauren Hakimi
