Wastewater Consult
After reviewing a proposal from the engineering firm Tighe & Bond, the select board on Aug. 5 directed Town Administrator Tom Guerino to negotiate a contract for wastewater consulting for the next three years.
The town has previously worked with consultants Scott Horsley and Anastasia Rudenko of GHD to develop a Targeted Watershed Management Plan. Tighe & Bond would help implement the plan, seek a watershed permit, and apply for state revolving funds, according to the consultants’ proposal.
Tighe & Bond project manager Ryan Christenberry said that expediting work on sewer rates and the cluster wastewater treatment system at the Lawrence Hill affordable housing would be among the consultants’ first priorities — as well as helping define sewer regulations before users connect in January 2026. “The team that’s presented here is ready to get going on what we understand is a sensitive timeline,” Christenberry said.
The consultants proposed reviewing contractor progress to help accelerate construction on the Lawrence Hill treatment and collection systems. “It is clear from local media accounts that the project is running slightly behind schedule,” the consultants wrote in their proposal.
In future years, the proposal says, consultants would help the town apply for Clean Water State Revolving Fund loans for installing septic upgrades and a sewer, as the town plans to do.
Guerino said Tighe & Bond estimated the contract would cost $300,000 over three years. —Tyler Jager
