Seasonal Communities Outreach
The state Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities is holding an online public outreach meeting on the state’s new seasonal communities designation at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17.
The meeting is aimed at gathering input from the public on the regulations the agency is currently writing — including what kinds of bylaws designated seasonal communities should adopt to promote year-round housing on undersized lots and where and how they should allow tiny homes.
Other subjects of discussion have included new rules that allow seasonal communities to build housing specifically for public sector workers, artists, and writers. State Rep. Hadley Luddy has said that towns should also be allowed to build housing for health-care workers, and the select boards of Chatham and Wellfleet have said they want to build housing for commercial fishermen and oyster farmers.
Meeting participants can also bring up other housing policies they would like the state to develop for seasonal towns.
